SITE Members Winter Solstice Celebration

SITE Annual Members Party

Annual Members Party

SITE Members-only sip-and-shop event held before our holiday dance party. Exhibiting artist Erika Wanenmacher, in collaboration with the mobile exhibition space Axle Contemporary, will set up a pop-up shop selling her legendary Ditch Witch products. Wanenmacher’s incense, candles, and other items are limited edition objects related to her exhibition, what Time Travel feels like, sometimes.

Other shopping experiences include a special 4Kinship and SITE SANTA FE store pop-up, where you can find unique gifts. Afterwards, let’s kick off the holiday season by dancing the night away with spectacular local DJs!

The evening features NOKABAH, a Diné DJ who spins everything from classic country riffs to pop beats, always keeping the crowd guessing what’s next; and DJ Garronteed, who started off as a Hip-Hop DJ, but his far-ranging music collection and interests are sure to get any dance floor inspired.

Taos, New Mexico

Interest in figurative art comes and goes down through the decades, but in the case of these three artists, all in their seventies, it never really went away. Bob Richardson favors a straightforward realism, with hints of the Old Masters, and occasional humorous notes, as in his naked self-portrait at work on an oversized canvas or his camera-crazed tourists. Ian Ratowsky, who lives in Mallorca, Spain, operates in a dreamy zone that incorporates magic realism and what he calls a “nonformulary approach to female portraiture.” In her drawings in the Wright Office, Greta Young shows body parts on a collision course with other anatomical detritus, highlighted by broadly brushed areas of color. Alfred Morang

Santa Fe Master Alfred Morang- Matthews Gallery Blog

Alfred Morang’s life ended with a fire. It was a frigid January evening in 1958, and Morang was up late at Claude’s Tavern. The saloon was on Canyon Road’s 600 block. Its owner Claude was a burly woman known for ejecting unruly patrons by slinging them over her shoulder. She presided over a wild scene: legend has it someone once rode a horse straight through the bar.
