Interest in figurative art comes and goes down through the decades, but in the case of these three artists, all in their seventies, it never really went away. Bob Richardson favors a straightforward realism, with hints of the Old Masters, and occasional humorous notes, as in his naked self-portrait at work on an oversized canvas or his camera-crazed tourists. Ian Ratowsky, who lives in Mallorca, Spain, operates in a dreamy zone that incorporates magic realism and what he calls a “nonformulary approach to female portraiture.” In her drawings in the Wright Office, Greta Young shows body parts on a collision course with other anatomical detritus, highlighted by broadly brushed areas of color. These bits and pieces of struggling humanity are comic, but they also seem somewhat desperate and doomed.

Cecilia Alemani will curate the 12th SITE SANTA FE International, (formerly known as the SITE SANTA FE Biennial) opening summer 2025 and running through early 2026. Since its creation in 1995, the International has served as a model for international contemporary art exhibitions and inspired countless exhibitions of its kind globally. As the anchor of SITE SANTA FE’s programming, it has served as the foundation for robust year-round programming at the institution, which is in keeping with the artist-centric approach of the SITE SANTA FE International, allowing artists to realize work they wouldn’t be able to create elsewhere.
The 2025 edition will mark the 30th anniversary of the museum as well as the biennial itself. When it was founded in 1995, the SITE Biennial was one of the rare recurring art events, alongside Whitney Biennial and Carnegie International. Over the following years, it hosted several prestigious curators like Francesco Bonami, Robert Storr, Candice Hopkins, and Ruba Katrib.

The Santa Fe Artists’ Medical Fund will be hosting its Annual 6“ x 6“ Show and Silent Auction“ on December 10, 2023 from 3- 5 PM at SITE Santa Fe. The SITE Santa Fe auction features more than 150 original works of art, including paintings, photographs and sculptures by some of Northern New Mexico‘s finest artists. Champagne and appetizers will be served, and the event is free to all to attend.

Join the Santa Fe Studio Arts Collective for the 15th Annual Santa Fe Studio Tour. More than 100 local artists will open their studios city-wide for two weekends, October 21–22 and 27–28, from 11 am until 5 pm each day.
2023 Santa Fe Studio Tour kicks off with a preview gallery opening on October 20, 5-8 pm, at the Santa Fe Woman’s Club located at 1616 Old Pecos Trail. Each artist on the tour will exhibit one piece. Celebrate the tour, meet the artists, and get information on how best to plan your self-guided Santa Fe Studio Tour. The gallery will be open all weekend, October 21–22, 1-4 pm.
Plan your tour experience ahead of time by downloading the free tour app. Read artist profiles, see their work, and get directions to the studios through Google Maps. The app is available on iOS + Android platforms. Map brochures are also available throughout the city, and the tour website features a printable tour map to be used in conjunction with the app.
